K 2022: MOCOM recycling material is processed into tweezers at ARBURG exhibition booth

Hamburg, September 29, 2022. At this year’s K, MOCOM and injection molding machine manufacturer ARBURG will be presenting together how tweezers are produced from a TEDUR® R 9519 NC recycled compound using an injection moulding machine of the type ALLROUNDER 270 S compact and a two-cavity mold. The resulting sprue is shredded by a mill on the machine and returned to the injection molding process. Using this example, MOCOM and ARBURG directly demonstrate at the exhibition at stand A13 in Hall 13 how circular economy works.
With compounds from MOCOM specially formulated for recycling, post-industrial waste is turned into a new product capable of being subjected to mechanical stresses and high temperatures. TEDUR® R 9519 NC is a natural-colored polyphenylene sulfide that contains 45 weight percent glass fiber and is made from more than 95 percent recycled material based on the compound. The use of TEDUR® R 9519 NC saves approximately 3.8 kilograms CO2 eq. per kilogram compared to virgin material.
"With live production directly on site, we want to show that mechanically recycled polymers can be used in resilient components and circular economy is no longer just a thought experiment. CO2 savings can be realized in the process, thus contributing to environmental protection and resource conservation," explains Daniel Hamburger, Business Development Manager E&E / General Industries. "At our MOCOM booth A62 in Hall 6, we are also focusing on sustainable materials."
