Hamburg, Germany, 10/4/2020. Hygienic material solutions for plastic products play an increasingly important role today in the public, food, healthcare and hospital sectors.

With Alperform® HM, MOCOM offers antibacterial masterbatches for flexible retrofitting of a durable, antibacterial protection of plastic materials in injection molding, extrusion or blow molding. Alperform® HM does not impair the properties of the plastic, such as its color, nor does it restrict the customary design freedom of plastic materials, such as their colorability. The wide range of carrier polymers available for Alperform® HM also guarantees versatile use in all major plastics such as ABS, PA, PE, PP, SAN, TPU or TPE.

Our Alcom® HM series includes antibacterial tailor-made compounds. These compounds combine a durable antibacterial protection of the plastic material with individual customer requests regarding specific material properties and color. "Customer individuality and the tailoring of plastic properties through compounding is an trend that we are responding to with our Alcom® HM for hygienic materials," says Dr. Stefan Zepnik.

Both Alperform® HM and Alcom® HM are based on dissolved silver ions, which provide long-lasting antibacterial protection for plastic surfaces. The silver ions are highly effective against more than 50 different types of bacteria such as E.Coli, Campylobacter, Legionella, MRSA and Salmonella. Antibacterial effects of silver ions can be seen after 15 minutes.

The antibacterial efficacy provided by Alperform® HM and Alcom® HM series is certified according to ISO 22196:2011. The products do not contain nanosilver particles and are compliant with the EU Biocide Regulation EU 528/2012. MOCOM offers its customers a comprehensive service for these products, including the performance of independent antibacterial efficacy tests according to ISO 22196:2011 and support for proper product labeling according to the EU Biocide Regulation 528/2012. In addition, Alperform® HM masterbatches are registered in Germany at the BAuA (Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) and also confirmed in the USA by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). Their use in toys or products with food contact is also possible through relevant confirmations.
